Lets Get it Started......... Jan. 4th 2012

I am ready to begin 2nd semester!  Lets get started!!!  I will be teaching 6 different classes this semester....Advanced Painting, Advanced Drawing, Painting, Drawing, Art Survey, Indep. Study!  CRAZY.  The Art Room will be busy. 

The students are kicking off the 2nd semester with an Opening Reception on Friday- Jan. 6th @ The Witter Gallery from 5:30-7:00.  This show is called the SLHS Scholastic Exhibit.  It will be open and available for viewing for the entire month of January.  Look for GOLD stickers on artwork title cards. These stickers represent the artists that are advancing to state level competition.  Our judge, Professor David Boelter chose 50 state winners.

APSA is a class for students that are seriously interested in the practical experience of art.  Students explore their style of art through a 12 piece portfolio and concentration.  Portfolios are reviewed and scored by AP professionals.  Students have a chance to earn 3 college credits!  This course is a challenge, but there is a lot of great ideas flowing with this group.  I predict a successful year!!!

                                           Painters have been studying color harmony and how they can achieve this through different color schemes.  Their new best friend is the color wheel.  Students are working on creating a landscape in oil pastel.  Hey painters..... remember blend  dark to light.
